Jules Eaton and the Great Outdoors Challenge

Jules Eaton celebrating after completing the challengeWing Commander Jules Eaton, a serviceman from Watchfield, raised over £1,500 for the RAFBF by completing a sponsored trek across the Highlands of Scotland - the Great Outdoors Challenge.

Jules was medically evacuated from Kuwait in 2004 with severe damage to his knees. Four operations later, he was determined to challenge his partial disability by taking on the trek, which is roughly 290km long and involves 8,200m of ascent.

Jules said, "Completing the Great Outdoors Challenge has meant a great deal to me, trekking across Scotland for my colleagues who can't. It was certainly tough going, but it was made easier by some great scenery and meeting many kind and interesting people along the way. The knowledge that I was raising over £15 per mile for the RAFBF helped me through the pain barrier more than once."

Dan and Paul Lee at the Coyote Banger Rally

Dan and Paul Lee, ready to rallyTwo cousins from Lowestoft raised money for the RAFBF by rallying across the streets of Europe in a car they bought for only £250.

The Coyote banger Rally ran through Calais, Paris, Munich, Prague and Amsterdam. It was a test of endurance for driver and car as every entrant had to buy a vehicle especially, and for no more than £500!

Senior Aircraftman Dan Lee and his cousin, Corporal Paul Lee, both serving members of the RAF, splashed the money on a used Peugot 405 estate, decorating the car in RAFBF roundels to reflect their fundraising cause.

Dan said, "This event was great fun and a good opportunity to raise money for the RAFBF, which is a really important charity to anyone serving in the RAF. We might well need their help ourselves one day."

Waitrose Monopoly pub crawl

The Waitrose teamChrissy Staunton and friends raised £660 for the RAFBF in memory of Sgt Ben Knight. Ben, the fiancé of Chrissy's daughter Tania, was sadly killed in a Nimrod crash in Afghanistan in 2006.

The partners of St Catherine's Dock Waitrose raised the fantastic figure with a Monopoly pub crawl, showing you don't have to be sporty to fundraise! Why not host a coffee morning or hold a quiz for your event?
