RAF Benevolent Fund supported by RAF Valley

The RAF Benevolent Fund has been presented with a cheque for £10,000 from RAF Valley fundraisers.

The money was raised by station personnel and the wider RAF Valley family over the course of a year, and formed part of the £54,000 raised by RAF Valley in 2012 for a variety of local, national and service charities.

Station Commander, RAF Valley, Group Captain Adrian Hill said: "RAF Valley personnel and our dependants raise significant funds each year for a multitude of national and local charities by organising and holding events such as RAF Valley track weekends, charity bike rides, as well as participation in events such the London Marathon, Anglesey Half Marathon, and most recently the 'Round Anglesey 24-hour Challenge', which involved a 131-mile circumnavigation of the Island of Anglesey via the Coastal Footpath.

"It is through RAF Valley personnel and dependants participating and fundraising in events such as these that significant funds are raised that can be donated to deserving charities such as the RAF Benevolent Fund."

Receiving the cheque for the RAF Benevolent Fund, Regional Director Simon Footer said: "I am delighted to receive the £10,000 cheque from RAF Valley on behalf of the RAF Benevolent Fund. This impressive sum represents a huge amount of time and effort from their charities committee and the many supporters who were involved in fundraising over the year.

"Many people from RAF families past and present will benefit from this money, so please pass on my thanks to everyone involved with this significant achievement."
