On Wednesday 24 July 2024, RAF Henlow hosted its annual Families Day supported by the RAF Benevolent Fund.
Families Day is a summer event organised by stations to bring serving personnel and their families and friends together for a day of fun and entertainment.
The Fund provided station grants to support Families Days across RAF bases this summer, and provided a £600 grant for RAF Henlow.
The day was filled with activities including Segway rides, swing boats, an inflatable obstacle course, hook-the-duck, face painting and a talent competition.
Fund staff were in attendance and helped take part in tin foil aeroplane making following the Fund’s Tin Foil Aeroplane Challenge for D-Day 80 in June.
A group of RAF Henlow Airplay children and young people completed their leg of the ongoing Airplay Relay Challenge to raise money for the Fund.
Squadron Leader Dave Rawlinson presented a cheque of £1000 which was generously donated in a whole station contribution to the Fund.
Shelly Aven, Regional Business Support Executive (South England and South Wales) said: “It was wonderful day at this year’s Families Day at RAF Henlow. It was fantastic to see the impact of our station grants and how Fund support can reach every corner of the serving RAF Family.”
