The RAF Benevolent Fund has been recognised with an award at the prestigious Charity Learning Awards.

The Charity Learning Awards, held by the Charity Learning Consortium, honour the outstanding work of learning and development practitioners in the third (charity) sector.

The Fund scooped the Community Contributor award, which was collected by winners Martin Botting, HR Business Partner and Pete Thompson, Head of HR.

They were recognised for supporting people working in charities for more than a decade.

Martin worked in organisational development and human resources at The Aldingbourne Trust for 10 years before joining the RAF Benevolent Fund in January 2020.

Meanwhile, Pete has spent more than 10 years at the RAF Benevolent Fund.

The Charity Learning Consortium said of Martin's and Pete's contributions to the charity sector: "Together they truly embrace the meaning of community and are always ready to help other members of the Consortium with advice and/or resources.

“This award recognises their outstanding service and dedication to HR and L&D in the charity sector."

Pete Thompson, the RAF Benevolent Fund's Head of HR, said: "It was a surprise to be nominated, however the award from the Charity Learning Consortium is very much appreciated and I am pleased that the efforts of myself and Martin have had a positive impact on other members in the charity sector.

"We will continue to advise where we can and share best practices which hopefully will not only benefit the Fund but also help other charities in their worthwhile causes as well."
