In honour of the late Squadron Leader Ken Aedy

To Fast Jets

On Wednesday 29 May, Ken’s son and daughter, Mark and Penny, along with their families, will launch the book of their father’s memoirs: From Biplanes to Fast Jets: A pilot’s life in the Royal Air Force 1942–1973.

This is not the story of a hero, but rather the story of an ordinary man’s experiences throughout an extraordinary century of geo-political turmoil and rapid technological advances.

A heart warming, amusing and at times harrowing tale, the book is faithful to Ken’s experiences, featuring stunning photographs, paintings and diagrams of the planes he flew and key events he witnessed.

The publication is a mark of respect for Ken, on what would have been his 100th birthday, but also for a whole generation to whom we owe so much.

With our deepest thanks to Mark and Penny for their extremely generous support of the Fund through this remarkable undertaking in honour of their father.

Make a donation

All donations made in association with the event and book launch will go towards the RAF Benevolent Fund’s support to the RAF Family, past and present. We thank you warmly for any contributions you are able to make, and these funds will be used where they are most needed; whether through mental health and wellbeing support to serving personnel, to activities for children and young people with a serving parent/parents, to social inclusion activities and support for older veterans and their dependents who may be at risk of loneliness.
