On Saturday 5 October, the RAF Benevolent Fund collaborated with Fife Airport for the Wings and Wheels 2024 event to raise money for the Fund.

The joint event was part of a collaboration between the RAF Benevolent Fund, Fife Airport and Driving Scotland. The event exhibited more than 50 supercars and over 20 aircraft in a special exhibition to mark Fife Airport’s 60th anniversary.

To mark the anniversary, the event featured a cherished and valuable 1964 Aston Martin DB5 owned by Wayne and Ruth Gray as the centrepiece.

The event was sponsored by Ryan Mutch of Caledonia Coachworks, renowned for his restoration of classic cars.

The show was opened by Jim Watt, Managing Director of Fife Airport in his Vietnam-era Birddog aircraft and was followed by parachuting, passenger flights, glider flying, formation flying, and a downed pilot rescue demonstration.

Many of the Fund’s supporters had stands including Dundee Gin, Meta Dram and Aviart Designs who are renowned for specialist gin and whisky bottlings, and unique Red Arrows artwork, all raising funds to support the RAF Family.

Gavin Davey, Director of Scotland, Northern Ireland and Northeast England at the Fund said: “The Wings and Wheels 2024 event at Fife Airport brought together many of the Funds long-term friends and supporters at a wonderfully friendly fly-in/drive-in.  will contribute to the Fund’s support to the RAF Family in this part of Scotland. Thank you to everyone who contributed to a fun and enjoyable day, allowing us to continue our vital work to support the RAF Family.”
