On 16 June, the historic 12th century Missenden Abbey played host to a concert from the RAF's Central Band, who performed a wide repertoire including pieces from the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, the majestic music of William Walton, and the up-tempo riffs of Queen's greatest hits.
As the sun set over the Abbey, the Band were joined by the Great Missenden Choral Society after which the Band performed a marching display before coming into position for a Sunset Ceremony.
Neil Tomlin Head of Engagement at the Fund said: "The concert once again celebrated the generous contribution made by all of those in our armed forces and remembered the great sacrifice made to preserve our freedom. Last year the event raised £5,000, with all the money going towards the RAF Benevolent Fund, which is there to serve all members of the RAF Family, whether serving or veterans, providing practical, emotional, and financial support whenever and wherever they need us."
Neil continued: "We were delighted that Missenden Abbey and the Central Band of the Royal Air Force chose to support the Fund again this year and we thoroughly enjoyed a magnificent evening of entertainment at the stunning location."
The sold-out event offered a VIP banquet dining experience, as well as the opportunity to bring a picnic with a general admission ticket.
Suzie Clark, Regional Fundraiser (South) at the Fund said: "I'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who was involved with making the RAF Music Concert at Missenden Abbey the huge success that it was. It took a lot of hard work and dedication from the whole team, but it was well worth it for an amazing night of music in front of such an historic venue to a sell-out crowd."
