Cpl Stuart Goodhall and a team of RAF colleagues will be running the length of the River Thames from Kemble to the Thames Barrier to raise money for our work. In a guest blog, Stuart tells us more about this challenge.

I am currently A/Sgt at the Survival Equipment Section (SES) which is part of the Engineering and Logistics Wing (E&LW). I have been in the RAF for 13 years and I'm currently based at RAF Brize Norton after moving over from Lyneham in 2011.

The team consists of myself, SAC Liam Allen, Sgt Jim Weeks, Cpl Scott Butchart, Cpl Al Leathley and SAC Chris Turner.

Cpl Dom Frapwell, Cpl Al Hughes, Cpl Dan Buttle, SAC John Lewis, SAC Ryan Lewis and SAC Laurence Ngo are our support crew/drivers.

The challenge will involve us running the length of the River Thames path from Kemble to the Thames Barrier which is 184 miles. Each runner will run 10km then let the next runner take over in a relay fashion. Each runner will complete approximately 49km by the end of the event. We are hoping to complete this in around 30 hours, starting in the early hours of Friday 27June.

The charities that we are supporting are the RAF Benevolent Fund, KEEN Oxford and Fly'2'Help. We are aiming to raise £5,000 in total to assist these charities with the great work that they do. We are training really hard at the moment and running 8km a day, five days a week.

We chose the RAF Benevolent Fund as one of our benefitting charities because we wanted to include an RAF charity. The Fund do excellent work supporting serving and ex-serving members of the RAF and their families, providing them with a range of help.

We have a Virgin Money Giving page et up for our challenge and any donations to our challenge would be gratefully received.

We're also holding bucket collections at various locations in Carterton, Oxford and Swindon to name a few in the run up to the event to raise as much money as possible.
