Rock Hard Triathlon
A team of 15 serving Royal Air Force personnel and civilians from RAF Honington are taking on a gruelling fundraising challenge in June to raise money for armed forces families in need.
The Rock Hard Triathlon (16 June – 1 July 2012) will see the RAF team cycle from Land’s End to John O'Groat's. Along the route they will climb the three tallest peaks and swim the three largest lakes in the UK. The team are raising money for the RAF Benevolent Fund, which provides support for serving and former RAF personnel in need.
Wing Commander Lee Morgan, Team Leader, said: "The Rock Hard Triathlon has captured the imagination of Service and civilian personnel who serve at RAF Honington, all of whom are directly involved in the support to current operations in Afghanistan and around the world.
"We hope that the event will help to raise the profile of an excellent charity that has contributed a huge amount to the quality of life of our Service men and women and their families across the Royal Air Force."
Gemma Mahon, Regional Fundraiser for the RAF Benevolent Fund, said: "We are thrilled that the Rock Hard Triathlon Team has chosen to support the RAF Benevolent Fund with this amazing fundraising endeavour – this is a great example of the magnificent support we receive from RAF personnel every year.
"All the money raised by the team will go right back into our work as the RAF's leading welfare charity, delivering support where it is most needed among RAF families."
