Meeting the filmmakers of 'Planes' at RAF Northolt

Eleven-year-old Luke Clark-Smith from our Airplay programme at RAF Northolt was one of the guests at a special Q&A held at the station with the filmmakers of the new Disney film 'Planes'. In this guest blog Luke tells us what he enjoyed about the event.

When I was younger I loved the film Cars. I watched it so much that even Mummy could recite sections of the movie. So when Mummy said that I was going to have the chance to meet Klay Hall who directed 'Planes' that was very special.

Mummy was in the RAF when I was born so I have always grown up around planes of all different types, so it was really great to see that in the movie there are characters which look like those different planes.

I really liked hearing about Klay's inspiration for the movie – I think it was very interesting to hear about his childhood and his links to the military.

But they didn't want to tell us how much the film cost though Mummy said it definitely cost more than a year’s worth of my allowance.

The most interesting bit of the Q&A was when Klay and Traci Balthazor-Flynn, the film's producer spoke about how they matched the characters to the actors' voices.

It was so much fun to be at the event and fab that we also got to see a few trailers from the movie too.

We've had a film about cars and now a film about planes so I think I might start writing a script about spaceships or maybe submarines.
