The RAF Benevolent Fund has been named as the VR Group's Charity of the Year for 2022. The VR Group is an Armed Forces-friendly employer providing Recruitment, Transport and Training services based in Hamilton, Scotland that has supported countless veterans through its networks.
The VR Group was awarded the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme's Gold Award in 2021, which acknowledges organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to defence and the armed forces community, and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant. Following this accolade, the team have decided to give back to the Fund by selecting it as their charity partner for the year.
Stuart Craig, Chief Executive Officer for the VR Group, said: "We are an Armed Forces friendly organisation, supporting those who serve, those who have served in the past, and their families. We are delighted and proud to be supporting the RAF Benevolent Fund this year as our chosen charity and sincerely hope that by doing our little bit fundraising, they can continue to provide practical, emotional and financial support wherever it is needed."
On 18th September, a team of fundraisers from the VR Group of companies will be joining the Edinburgh Kiltwalk, in which 50% of all funds raised will be matched through the Sir Tom Hunter Foundation. The VR Group will also be hosting fundraising events throughout the year and if permitted, a summer fun day and BBQ to raise money for the Fund.
Michelle Jeffcott, UK Community Fundraising Manager said: "Stuart and his team at the VR Group have been enormous supporters of the Fund and the work we do support serving personnel and veterans alike in Scotland, so it's an honour to have been chosen as their 2022 Charity of the year. We look forward to working closely together over the coming months as the VR Group help to raise money for and awareness of the RAF Benevolent Fund."
