RAF Marham turns over a new leaf for Fund's centenary

RAF Marham has branched out to mark the RAF Benevolent Fund's centenary in a rather green-fingered way, planting 525 trees in an eco-area on station.

The trees are now available to 'adopt' for a minimum £5 donation to the Fund and will help to create a lasting green community space for personnel and their families at the Norfolk RAF station. The Ladywood eco site is a nature area which comprises woodland, a circular walk, composting toilets and an outdoor classroom.

Lisa Hunt, RAF Benevolent Fund Regional Fundraiser, said "The Adopt a Tree Scheme is a wonderful way for RAF Marham to bring RAF personnel together with their local community.

"The RAF Benevolent Fund is rooted in the RAF, having been founded just a year afterwards, and for the past 100 years has continued its mission to ensure no member of the RAF Family faces adversity alone."

Warrant Officer Graham Spark has been working on the Ladywood project for more than two years, creating a nature area that supports an eco-friendly footprint.

All 525 trees have been kindly donated by the Woodland Trust.
