Three play parks serving families based at RAF St Mawgan have been transformed thanks to a generous grant of more than £100,000 from the RAF Benevolent Fund.
Play parks at Lerwick Road in St Eval, Calshot Close in St Columb Minor, and Meadow Close in Treloggan all received brand new facilities including swings, climbing fames, multi-activity frames and picnic benches. Thanks to this much-needed investment, each park has been transformed, becoming a hub for the families of RAF St Mawgan and the surrounding communities.
Mrs Jo Howard, Community Development Officer at RAF St Mawgan, said: "We are so grateful for the generosity of the RAF Benevolent Fund. The play areas are so important for children to socialise outdoors and a great opportunity for the parents and families to chat and get to know each other."
The play parks which form an integral part of the Services Family Accommodation areas are also used by local civilian families and provide a great place for the entire community to come together.
Wing Commander Marshall Kinnear, Station Commander at RAF St Mawgan said: "We've always enjoyed a strong community spirit amongst our Service families and their neighbours, thanks to the support we get from the RAF Benevolent Fund. It's never been more important for us to maintain that connection than right now, as we recover from periods of social isolation."
