Royal visit
HRH The Duke of Kent recently visited the RAF Benevolent Fund's head office in London to meet staff, trustees, beneficiaries and ambassadors.
On 10 January 2013, His Royal Highness the Duke of Kent visited the headquarters of the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund. The Duke, who has been President of the RAF Benevolent Fund since 1969, was making his first visit to our headquarters since its renovation and refurbishment.
He was escorted throughout the visit by our Chairman, Lord Hugh Trenchard, grandson of the founder of the RAF Benevolent Fund and indeed the Royal Air Force, and by our Controller, Air Marshal Chris Nickols.
The Duke met many of the staff and learned of their involvement in the delivery of welfare to the RAF family. He was impressed by the can-do nature of the team and by their enthusiasm.
He was also impressed with the outcome of the renovation programme and mentioned that the building now reflected the fit for purpose attitude of the Fund as a whole.
He concluded his visit by meeting trustees, beneficiaries and ambassadors and again remarked upon the clear and very high levels of motivation, selflessness and benevolence.
