World War Two

Sadly, World War II Polish pilot Tony Rogers has passed away. Tony had an incredible life and flew Lancasters, Spitfires and Wellingtons during the War. In later life he became a keen supporter of the RAF Benevolent Fund.

Not many have lives like his. Tony was taken prisoner by Soviet forces after the invasion of Poland and was imprisoned in a Gulag in a hard labour camp.

In 1942, he was freed in an agreement with the Allies. Making his way to the UK, he went on to serve with the RAF.

In service, he flew a range of aircraft and in 1944 he flew dangerous and daring supply missions to resistance forces in Warsaw.

Later in life, Tony was immobilised by a stroke and the RAF Benevolent Fund stepped in to provide a mobility scooter.

Tony was so inspired by this that he went on to become a keen supporter of the RAF Benevolent Fund.
