The RAF Benevolent Fund is thrilled to receive a donation of £12,000 from South Ayrshire Council which will go towards helping the RAF Family.
This donation was made possible thanks to the generosity of bereaved families who allow metal implants to be recovered and then recycled, following cremations at Masonhill Crematorium. South Ayrshire Council is a member of the UK Crematoria recycling metals scheme, which means that with the permission of the deceased person's family, any metals recovered can be recycled and the money used to support charities.
The Fund is also the council’s event charity partner for the Ayr Show Festival of Flight, taking place on 9 September.
Gavin Davey, Area Director of the RAF Benevolent Fund for Scotland, Northern Ireland and North-East England, said: "We are delighted to be partnered with South Ayrshire Council to reach and support RAF veterans in need. This kind donation will support personnel and their families in South Ayrshire, and help us to reach even more."
South Ayrshire Council’s Provost, Iain Campbell said: "The RAF Benevolent Fund provide fundamental support to our RAF veterans and rely on donations to provide their services. I’m delighted that this donation will make a difference to their operations in South Ayrshire."
