Tribute to His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh
All at the Fund are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of The Duke of Edinburgh and send our condolences to our Patron Her Majesty The Queen and all the Royal Family at this sad time.
Air Vice-Marshal Chris Elliot, Controller of the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund paid tribute to the Duke's incredible life of service, which began with the Navy during the Second World War. She said: "His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh understood only too well the call of duty, what it was to serve one's country. He was an example to us all.
"He was the President of the Guinea Pig Club and we were delighted to welcome His Royal Highness to the unveiling of a memorial to the Guinea Pig Club at the National Arboretum. The Guinea Pig Club were stoic and resilient in the face of great danger and adversity – qualities The Duke admired and shared."
