This month, Parkdean Resorts has pledged to increase its support for the Armed Forces by donating over 200 holidays worth over £150,000, boosting the current serving breaks available for serving members of the RAF Family through the RAF Benevolent Fund.
The Fund’s current partnership with Parkdean Resorts will extend into 2025 with more holidays to be allocated to eligible service people and their families, providing much-needed respite.
The breaks help to support families who are experiencing tough times and include free accommodation, as well as entertainment passes, discounted food and beverages at restaurants, bars on park and welcome packs on arrival.
The initiative has been designed so families can enjoy rest and respite, as well as quality time together.
RAF Corporal Amy Turton attended a serving break at Parkdean Resorts with her four-year-old daughter Aria and extended family. Amy said: “I applied because we had been going through such a tough time following my stepdad’s cancer diagnosis and his treatment throughout lockdown. I was just about to have double hip surgery when I applied too – it was such a stressful time for us all.
“It was just so lovely to spend quality time together. The people that work there make it so special. The holiday reps got the children involved in the evenings’ entertainment – we really enjoyed ourselves!”
Rachelle was going through a turbulent time after losing her health, job, marriage and home in the space of just six weeks when she reached out to the Fund for support. Rachelle said: "It was wonderful to be able to escape reality from our life back home and spend some quality time together. My daughter loved the one-on-one time.
"The support I’ve received from the Fund has been amazing – it’s allowed me to get my life back on track. Eighteen months ago I never would have thought I’d be where I am now – I’m coming out the other side and I’m feeling much happier again."
