Operation Silkman

The RAF Regiment has created a series of videos to mark the 80th anniversary of the formation of the RAF Regiment in 2022.

The first two episodes focus on Operation Silkman, an operational parachute drop into Sierra Leone carried out by II Squadron RAF Regiment 21 years ago, on 13 January 2001.

To celebrate 80 years of the RAF Regiment, personnel are undertaking an array of events in 2022 to raise money for the RAF Benevolent Fund and the Centurion Fund. The monthly events will commemorate a number of the campaigns the RAF Regiment have been involved in, both in the home nations and overseas.
